| perfect 4th of july dessert: strawberry shortcake |

my girlfriend, emili, made this food network strawberry shortcake recipe at a dinner party in the past and i have never tasted a strawberry shortcake that was SO SO SO good.  this dessert has become a usual suspect at my house and if we're wanting an extra special treat i'll serve it with vanilla ice cream instead of the homemade whip cream.  the short cakes are so easy (especially if you are a procrastinator like me and need a last minute dessert for a holiday!!) and to me it's the perfect forth of july dessert.

i love the forth of july: i don't like to choose a favorite holiday but i've got to say, this holiday sits right at the top of my list.  living less than a mile from the beach makes our forth plans easy: beach & bbq.  it's definitely a priority for me to wear patriotic colors on the forth and there are tons of options to create the perfect red white and blue look this year.  a casual comfy dress like these dresses from jcrew (1, 2, 3, 4) were exactly what i was looking for to throw on and be comfy but still look put together.  i hope you all have a great forth of july- be safe and wear your sunscreen. xxoo
