jeff and i few into boston last night and although we had a direct flight flying across the country is a whole day of traveling kind of thing. let me lay it out for you: my sister picked us up around 6 am, sat in traffic to the airport, took off at 9 am, got into boston around 530 pm, got our luggage, needed food (i could of gnawed off jeff's arm), grabbed dinner and then it was near 8 pm. *weph!* the day was gone. the weather is absolutely gorgeous; so crisp and clean. this is my favorite time to be on the east coast. tomorrow we're going to exercise around a nearby park but wanted to check in. hope you are all having a good day. xx

happy october 1st! where has this year gone? i love october for so many reasons: i love fall; it's a great excuse to get out of the southern californian heat and drive up to the mountains to see some season change or fly across the country to new england. i love disneyland and how they decorate everything halloween- i love halloween. i love buying cinnamon and pumpkin scented everything. i love baking fun fall-like dishes. i love lazy football sundays and crockpot cooking. And of course, most importantly, i love that jeff and i get to celebrate our wedding anniversary.

currently on my october to-do list:

i've been going through a transition period. waking up and not having to go to a job is really different. you have to be disciplined: it's so easy to not shower, to drag your butt out of bed whenever you please and specifically, with this heat, it's easy to just want to do plain nothing. I haven't gone through my phone photos in sometime except to delete random pics when my phone tells me it's getting full. I wanted to share a few photos that really made me happy when I was browsing for this post. hope you're all having a good weekend. xx

| motivation monday: i bought a juicer |

after completely stuffing my face at every meal and snack in Boston my body was screaming for better nutrients by the end of the week. i met my girlfriend Nicole for lunch in Southie at Bee's Knees on Thursday and once we caught up over a delicious fruit and nut salad my body was still craving more greens and although the juice was absolutely amazing and helped my need for greens it was $8.50! The next morning, Jeff and I wake up and I still feel my body screaming for something healthy so we ran over to a Coffee Corner Cafe in Newton Highlands rather than our typical Dunkin or Bolocco morning...anyway, the juice was $8.50 or so again. SO it was settled, I was buying a juicer when we got back home. We still had some gift cards left over from our wedding so I figured there was no better time: enter the Breville Juicer. I've was researching blogs all day from bed yesterday while I caught up on emails, bills, etc. I am SO excited to start today with juice. I really love a green juice and I love the way it makes me feel. Last night we loaded up on loads of veggies (so much cheaper than going to a local spot to buy a juice) and are ready to get back on track. Do I have any other juice lovers out there? Any recipes you want to share? please please! happy monday!

+ this place claims to have the best iced coffee. husband approved. I was very much in love with my green juice: kale, spinach, kiwi, ginger, carrot, cucumber, celery and lemon.

| memorial day in new england |

we leave for new england tomorrow morning. we'll be in boston & maine for the week - we're so excited to head east and we hope the weather will cooraporate with our time there. i feel like the patriotism on the east coast is in full force on holidays like memorial day or the 4th of july so it makes it that much more fun to be there during those times...also, I love a fun bbq with friends and family especially when you can theme cook! hope you all have a great long weekend and thank you, to those lost their lives fighting for our country.

| new england curb appeal |

jeff and i are heading to new england for memorial day. last year we were back east for jeff's brother and now wife, Gen's wedding; I can't believe how fast time flies. Prepping for our trip gets me so excited - especially when we get out there for a holiday AND my in-laws say that the weather has been perfect. we are definitely heading to a sox game, seeing family + friends and eating at our favorite restaurants. still up in the air: a trip to Maine or a fairy ride to Nantucket. Whenever we're back east I fall in love with the neighborhoods all over again, in San Diego it's so hard to find a home that has character unless you like the idea of 20 of your neighbors sharing similar characteristics of your space or your have millions of dollars to spare. We're itching to buy our first home in the near future so it's so fun to scope out dreamy homes where you can in vision a future of warm summer night with family bbq's or chilly winters with a warm fire.

| boston memories + marathon monday |

Happy Marathon Monday! As many of you know I have a deep love for Boston: the city itself is full of some of my favorite restaurants, shops and memories. Jeff, was born and raised in Newton, just a few miles out of the city, we ventured east for our first time together just a few months after we started dating. Him and his family played tour guide and it was in those few days I knew Boston would always hold a incredibly special place in my heart. Less than a year into Jeff and my relationship we visited a few times but knew we both wanted change from LA; it was then we packed up both our apartments and headed east in Jeff's jeep wrangler for a fresh spring start in back bay, boston. With the help from Jeff's dad and his camera we found what we look back on as "the perfect city apartment". We lived on the corner of Dartmouth and Newbury in a dreamy brownstone with an amazing view overlooking Boylston, Dartmouth and Newbury street.

Our first weekend in our apartment Jeff had to get back to work, I knew no one in the city and really didn't know my way around but I leashed up Charlie and ventured (something I am not known to do). It was marathon monday: an event so big in the state of Massachusetts that most get it off and venture down to the finish line, it was just steps away from our apartment. walking down to the finish line validated my feelings for the city: the people and the energy, it was amazing.

Last year I could tell you where I was and what I was doing when I heard the news: I was working at Horton Plaza- I saw the TV in a fitting room flashing breaking news while I sat on a conference call. I immediately called Jeff, asked him if anyone was at the finish line and my heart ached for my beloved adopted city. I got in touch with my girlfriends to see where they were; some friends were close by and forever altered by those moments.

Not a day goes by that I don't think about that horrific day but today, specifically, I am thinking about Boston: the city, the people- our family and friends, the energy that was brought to lift the city up and make marathon Monday bigger and better than ever. Boston Strong.

BOSTON FOR THE 4TH

Ran away to my home away from home for a little vacation. Amazing weather, friends, food, and shopping! Hope you all had a safe and fun 4th!

NEWBURY SHOPPING

Now that the plane tickets are booked for our nice little last minute, spur the moment, we need a vaca, east coast trip I can't stop thinking about all the stores I use to love roaming through and making impulse purchases at... on my way to/from work, on my way to get a coffee, or just roaming without a purpose. Can't wait to do it all over again.
