july hair inspiration

if you're anything like me you'd rather die than be doing your hair when it's this hot out.  In orlando I decided to straighten my hair one of the days  and by days end it was curly and humungous- hello 50+% humidity.   I've been super inspired by a few looks lately that look chic yet effortless, enjoy! xo

go-to makeup

I've been pretty loyal to my go-to makeup regiment for years now: below are my go-to's I wear daily to work.  If I'm not working I'm lathering on SPF moisturizer, curling my lashes, and slapping on lip-gloss.  I love letting my skin have a few days off; it gets quite temperamental and likes when it gets the chance to breathe.
I am obsessed with all my 'essentials'.  I don't wear a full on foundation: my skin can't handle it.  I spot check with the Balm concealer and power with Covergirl.  I always load on the bronzer and then apply Orgasm by Nars lightly on top then highlight on my cheek bones and bridge of my nose.  I have no idea what I would do if I never discovered the Balm mary lou-manizer; it just makes me feel fresh.  I have always been a two kind of mascara girl- I really like the mascara's maybelline makes; I curl my lashes before and after the mascara goes on.  I fill in my brows and try to make them a little thicker than they already are.  I swipe a tiny bit of eyeliner on and finish with MAC by Angel.  I've never been a lipstick girl but this color is a total game changer....I sound like that whole voiceover in American Psycho and his regiment; if you don't know it...you should look it up.

manis for spring

i love a manicured nail- the thought of a chipped nail stresses me out.  i use to be a loyal gel polish kind of girl (insert CND 'just red' /  or Gelish 'you're so sweet you're giving me a toothache') but as of lately I've felt like I was missing out on the fun spring polishes...but not so left out that I was willing to commit to a two week mani in an outrageous color.  if you are willing to commit to the at home regiment there is something so nice about being able to swap out your polish every few days.  I'm currently sporting a natural growth  clear coat which doesn't thrill me and is so boring but my nails are still recovering from the land of gel.  I'm typically a red or light pink girl but stepping out of the box I love love love deporah lippman's (#2 below) "flowers in her hair" for spring- it's so fun and happy!  Also, I didn't include any of Essie's spring collection but basically I want the whole spring line: it's ridiculous- of course my favorite color in the collection is style hunter; a fun red.

TAKING A RISK..

I'm usually very "programed" when it comes to the colors I wear on my nails & toes; I typically stick with Lollipop [ also a favorite of Olivia Palermo ], Ballet Slippers, or Wicked (in the Winter only) all by Essie.  For my birthday I like to wear Happy Birthday by Deborah Lippmann.  Lately, I've been stepping out of the box; right now I'm wearing a completely obnoxious florescent orange on my nails and a Mint color of my toes.  Afraid to take a risk?  Use this guide to help you and your nails step out of the box for the Summer season:

-For the girl who loves classic red-

-For the girl who loves a soft pink-

PS- Don't forget, if you hate it, you're just a cotton swab & some acetone
away to going back to what makes you comfortable.

Lifesavers- the bathroom addition:

There are some mornings I am so tired I don't even know how I function.  Thankfully, my brain is on auto pilot when it comes to my daily regimen & daily go-to items.
I don't mind splurging on beauty products, after all, I use them daily.  BUT I also swear by certain drug store brands that have proven to be better than any brand at a Barney's counter.  So below, you'll find cheap, expensive, and everything in-between.....
+ the best ending to a quick manicure
+ your eyelashes will thank you
+ this flat iron heats up in less than a minute and is gentle on your hair
+ wash away dead skin
+ kiss dry lips good-bye!
+ smells amazing and is nice to your skin
+ eyeliner that stays on all day
+ the best foundation for sensitive skin!

wait: where did my eyelashes go?

i think i have solved the mini mystery in my "lack of eyelashes on my right eye" problemo.  when I'm reading, watching tv, taking a bath, //anything, i pick at my lashes to get my mascara off.  FAIL.  my poor right eye only has lashes on the outside!  i was first pretty convinced that i singed them off while trying to figure out why my darn stove wasn't igniting the other night; UNTIL, i was watching Bravo and BAM...there I was picking away.  BUT i'm a problem solver and have always been obsessed with fake lashes (AND the beauty sections at, but not limited to: Target, RiteAid, Ulta, Nordstrom, Sephora...).  so why not indulge in the extra beauty regiment until these suckers decide to grow back grace with their presence once again?

Rite Aid had a sale going on!  Score!  Fashion Lashes are my fav natural choice...even over MAC or Sephora brands.
scouring the isle's of ULTA with my friend Abbi....MUST find more lashes!
