on trend....a passion for pineapple

happy thursday!  i am totally dying over this whole pineapple trend.  I've got to admit i haven't been vibe'n with some of the graphics that have been thrown on some of my fav brands..ie: flamingos.  *fun fact* i am deathly afraid of flamingos and they gross me out more than anything.  anyway, PINEAPPLES!  gasp!  how cute and tropical is this trend?  my house currently smells like hawaii because of this yummy scentsy scent (what? it's discontinued?  i'm sure this bad boy smells just as yum).  this trend definitely gets me ready for summer.

trending: the crop top

i have a total sick sad obsession with crop-tops but am so picky on how their worn.  I can't handle a hoochie-mama bustier with shorty shorts...i just can't.  however, when the crop-top trend is worn right it is so good: below are 6 looks I think are done perfectly.

neutrals + metal details

my sister was in town this past weekend, while we were out shopping she picked up the cutest pair of sandals with metal detail accents: she wasn't sure if they were trend right but they so are.  In fact, I was just relaxing catching up on some of my favorite blogs and browsing a few May magazines and you'll see metal details all over.  I really love this look: these sandals can be worn as a casual look or you can pair them with a fun spring dress.

OLD NAVY STEPS UP.

I'm the first to admit, I'm not an Old Navy girl- until now.  I popped in there to look for a stripe maxi dress, (the one I've been eyeing at J.crew is no-where-to-be-found).  Anyway, I was completely impressed with what Old Navy had, I found great dresses, collared shirts, skirts- basically 10 pieces for around $150.  I am so into it.  I found a few pieces at the store that they didn't have in my size so I started to explore oldnavy.com ... the obsession continues.  Below you'll find some amazing cheap pieces that I feel I could find at nordies, jcrew, or banana.  Enjoy!

1- Loaded up on these great collared shirts, $26.94
2- Adorable summer cut offs, dress them up or down. $12.50
3- These skinny jeans come in tons of colors, I bought Mustard. $34.94
4- Dont these sandals look like a Sam Edelman steal? $10.97
5- I've expressed my love for oversized sweaters in the past, this is the perfect baggy fit. $28.99
6- This sweater is so cute for transitioning seasons, sale, sold out. sad.
7- i love denim! this is adorable for any occasion. $7.97

COLLEGE GRADUATIONS!

I was chatting with my girlfriend Lauren last night about what kind of outfits she should pack for her weekend getaway to Colorado where she'll be watching her boyfriend's sister graduate from college.  So I got to thinking, the actual graduation isn't going to be the fanciest of events, it's the dinner's and other events that follow.  I put together some pieces that can all be worn with each other, transition well from day to night, and also look oh so chic.  Congrats to all the Grads out there!

1. Dressy Collar Rag&Bone
2. Casual Collar Miss Selfridge
3. Sweater JCrew
4. Polka Dot Skirt Madewell
5. Maxi Mango
6. Nautical Pencil Skirt Jcrew
7. Sunnies! Stella McCartney
8. Statement Necklace Kate Spade
9. The perfect Nude pump Mui Mui

Trend Alert!

There is something so chic and fun about the sailor inspired styles that come on so strong every year.  I don't know if the reason I love this trend so much is because it makes me think of traveling somewhere where I can walk on the ocean break, my friend Val, [ who I've bragged about before here ] and her boating lifestyle, or just because I'm a sucker for stripes and bright reds... regardless, I'm happy this trend is back.

ShopStyle search:

wearing menswear like a lady....

Menswear is huge on the runways & on the Hollywood red carpets, however, seeing it on the streets isn't as common.  I've envied the ladies I see pulling off the look and felt inspired to post about it when I found this adorable bow tie that also doubles as a necklace on Topshop.  It has just enough feminine touch to create the perfect menswear inspired look [ for me ] and it can easily be worn as the exact opposite: think Blair Waldorf circa prep school.
+ TOPSHOP bow tie
+ ALDO cuff
+ MADEWELL trousers
+ JESSICA SIMPSON bootie

make a statement

I am a firm believer that adding jewelry to any outfit really spices it up and can take a simple outfit to a dressier, chicer, more out going level.  Statement necklaces are so huge this season [ you can see them worn by a few style icons here & here. ]  All the fun necklaces below don't break the bank but will make your outfit look like a million bucks!

HM + Versace

With less than a month before it hits stores [ November 17th ] Versace for HM became somewhat of a hit or miss for me.  I absolutely adore the black color pallet of dresses and the fun belts.  However, for me, I couldn't see myself wearing the bold patterned and bright design pieces, unless I was headed somewhere tropical.

"One for one"

I have been a loyal fan of Tom's Shoe's since they first entered the market in 2006.  I now own multiple pairs of the comfy tenny, so you could imagine my excitement when I heard Tom's will be introducing Ballet flats to the already growing business in Spring 2012.  Ballet flats have a little more versatility than their basic tenny so I'm looking forward to investing in a few pairs and feeling good about a purchase that not only adds style to my wardrobe but doubles as a feel good cause and movement.

i love collaborations
