WELCOME, SUMMER?

i don't want to brag to my friends in the mid-west, or east coast-- especially my new englander's who are just bombarded with snow but this week is like summer here in san diego.  it's been 80 degrees on the coast so i busted out some summer-like fashion and plan on going to the beach later this week.  i hope you are all having a great week so far. xx

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED // THE PERFECT BOOTIE:

man oh man -- i've been on a mission.  i've been searching for the perfect black bootie for quite awhile now. enter: the petty bootie by sam edelman.  i scoured san diego for a pair -- nordstrom, sold out in my size, urban outfitters sold out in my size and then it happened: bloomingdales had my size and bam! they're mine.
the best part about this whole exciting petty bootie situation?  i own them in a nude suede and had no idea they came in black leather.  i am packing for a quick business trip to san antonio and lets be real: wearing heels while prego is so not in the cards--hats off to the mama's who can do such.  this bootie is the only shoe coming with me for the weekend and i'm so excited! weeeeee! xx

A WOVEN OBSESSION:

i swear the bump looks way bigger in these pics than it actually is (insert emoji laugh/cry face).  that plaid sure does a number on a blooming bump. ;-)
the woven and jeans are a recent purchase from old navy--- the jeans are maternity and i really like the fit, the top is not.  hope you are all having a good tuesday. xx

exploring beautiful venice

another day in venice was filled with loads of bridges and following this guide.  there is so much amazing architecture in italy.  I have found a huge addiction in european doors and terraces: the doors are all so unique (i'll do a "door" post later) and the terraces are filled with gardens, laundry and people enjoying life and it just seems so....peaceful.  i loved that in venice there were no cars.  Coming from Rome, France and UK you suddenly have an appreciation of the whole "i'm not going to get hit by a car today" mentality and it's nice. enjoy! xx

travel perfection

i am the first to admit that as i get older the more neurotic i am.  flying, amongst (many) other things, falls into this category.  what i wear when i fly is so important: i need to be comfy, i need to have the option of layering on pieces if I get cold and being comfy it's a bit warm...sigh, so much pressure.  when i saw this casual outfit on pinterest i realized that is basically my go-to cross country travel outfit.

the espadrille

the weekend was beautiful.  Sunday cooled down a bit so we decided to park the chevy on the coast and ride our beach cruisers to the carlsbad fair.  it was really overwhelming - tons of vendors, food and people, people, people BUT fun.  by the end of the day my feet were killing me.  Anyway, lesson learned.  I have been on the hunt for comfy closed toe shoes, especially with our upcoming Europe trip; enter the espadrille.  they are so dang cute and look so dang comfy.  if they can provide comfort and no blisters i think i've found my shoe of the summer.

neutrals + metal details

my sister was in town this past weekend, while we were out shopping she picked up the cutest pair of sandals with metal detail accents: she wasn't sure if they were trend right but they so are.  In fact, I was just relaxing catching up on some of my favorite blogs and browsing a few May magazines and you'll see metal details all over.  I really love this look: these sandals can be worn as a casual look or you can pair them with a fun spring dress.

overalls

I shared this look with see dani style yesterday but thought it was quite fitting as we approach week 2 of coachella.  overalls are a super hot trend for spring and they were seen all over coachella week 1.  I found these short-alls at charlotte russe; i love the fit, wash and style and for such a sharp price point these were a no brainer.
hope you all have a good weekend!

spring festival season

I am so bummed we didn't get to Coachella this past weekend.  It one was of those things that got brought up multiple times and never executed.  festival style aka boho chic is everything right now;  I remember my first time at south by southwest years ago; although the music and energy was contagious  the fashion was bold, daring and forever memorable.  Later this week I am teaming up with Dani from See Dani Style to share our favorite festival styles but in the mean time I've put together a super easy packing list for any upcoming festival... and don't worry, if you can't get to a festival this year these outfits are totally acceptable for an everyday look:

printed denim & printed denim

We went out to dinner last night for my birthday, Jeff gave me a few choices and I opted for a favorite we don't visit often: Urban Solace in North Park.  It's so easy to want to stay inside your bubble but venturing out is so fun and so is the overall vibe of North Park!  Urban Solace is so yummy, if you haven't been, I highly recommend it.
The weather has been so nice (borderline HOT!) this week that I decided I wanted my birthday dinner outfit to be light and airy but not too casual.  This printed denim and denim look- woah, mixing two of my fav spring trends was perfect and finishing the look with my favorite gladiators was a no brainer while tying my whole birthday look together.
hope you all have a great weekend. xxoo
